Description

Cacti love being in bright and sunny locations! As a horticulturist your job is to arrange the cacti in the best possible way to create a beautiful landscape and make sure that each plant gets enough sunlight. But be careful, any new cactus could harm existing plants.. Shadows are always lurking!

Sunlight is a board game for 1-6 players that combines the fun of roll-and-write with the beauty of nature. The players' goal is to create the most beautiful cactus garden possible, earning points for the location of the cacti and their combinations.

Within the game are 6 different types of cacti (Carnegiea Gigantea, Gymnocalycium, Myrtillocactus Geometrizans, Euphorbia Ammak, Hawortia Fasciata, and Opuntia Microdasys), each with its own scoring system. The game consists of four phases, and during each phase the sun moves to cast its shadow on the garden from a different point (East, South, West, North). This causes each phase to change cacti to light, and this is important, as only cacti in direct sunlight count toward the score for that phase.

It is also possible to play Sunlight in solo mode, where one player challenges Nyx, the Greek goddess of night. Nyx is an automaton controlled by the game and bases her score on the choices made by the player. During the game therefore, the player must be careful in choosing and placing his cacti so as not to favor Nyx too much in his score.
